Our practice is built for DWI and criminal defense cases where preparation, strategy, and courtroom experience matter — not plea-mill shortcuts or cookie-cutter representation. From day one, every case is evaluated on the facts, the evidence, and the long-term impact on the client’s record and future.
Meet Kenneth V. Mitchell
Kenneth V. Mitchell is a Texas-licensed attorney who has practiced law since 2018. He defends individuals charged with DWI and criminal offenses in Harris County, Montgomery County, and Galveston County. His practice is built on aggressive courtroom advocacy, thorough case investigation, and a commitment to protecting his clients’ rights at every stage of the criminal process.

Before entering private practice, Mr. Mitchell served in the United States Army and later worked as a police officer. That background gives him a unique advantage in criminal defense — he understands how law enforcement builds cases, conducts traffic stops, administers field sobriety tests, and collects evidence. He uses that insider knowledge to challenge the prosecution’s case from the inside out.
In addition to his legal training, Mr. Mitchell completed advanced accident investigation coursework, including training in crash dynamics, evidence preservation, and collision reconstruction. This technical background strengthens his ability to challenge DWI accident cases, question officer testimony, and identify weaknesses in the State’s evidence.
Litigation Experience
Mr. Mitchell has handled criminal defense cases from intake through resolution, including discovery, depositions, motion practice, suppression hearings, and trial. His experience includes first-chair and second-chair work in DWI and criminal matters, as well as ALR hearings, pretrial negotiations, and contested jury trials in Houston-area courts.
As a Houston DWI attorney committed to trial-level preparation, KVM Law Firm approaches every DWI and criminal defense case with trial readiness from day one. That preparation strengthens leverage in negotiations and positions clients for the best possible outcome — whether that means a dismissal, reduction, or acquittal at trial.

Education and Licensing
Mr. Mitchell earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Houston Law Center and was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 2018.
His professional training includes coursework in trial advocacy, depositions, legal writing, Texas criminal procedure, DWI defense strategy, and accident investigation.
Professional Recognition
Kenneth V. Mitchell has been selected as a Super Lawyers – Texas Rising Star for 2023, 2024, and 2025, a recognition awarded to a limited percentage of attorneys based on peer evaluation, professional achievement, and independent research.
He was named to the Top 40 Under 40 list by The National Trial Lawyers in 2021, recognizing early-career trial attorneys based on professional achievement and peer nominations.
Mr. Mitchell has also received the DWI Warrior Award from the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association (TCDLA) for criminal defense advocacy.
